2009: Build the Identity Infrastructure
The initial project phases integrate a suite of Oracle Identity and Access Management solutions with the current UW System Identity and Access Management infrastructure.

Phase 1 - Oracle Identity Manager (OIM)
Oracle Identity Manager automates establishing user identity accounts in entitled services. OIM also provides the capabilities to manage the end-to-end lifecycle of user identities across UW System resources.

Phase 2 - Oracle Virtual Directory (OVD)
Oracle Virtual Directory integrates existing user identity information across multiple campuses and resources. OVD also provides a single view and access point to these data resources.

Phase 3 - Oracle Access Manager (OAM)
Oracle Access Manager provides access control to web applications and resources running in diverse environments. OAM analyzes access policies to permit users access to entitled services.

Phase 4 – Oracle Identity Federation (OIF)
Oracle Identity Federation enables multiple enterprises (such as individual UW System campuses and external organizations) to use the same identification data for accessing enterprise resources within the group.

2010 and Beyond: Service Expansion
Once the infrastructure is in place, service expansion integrates the key capabilities of IAM with UW System services.

Service expansion is both a business activity and technical solution. The business activity analyzes the processes that surround entitlements and access to services. The technical solution deploys the services into the new IAM infrastructure.
